Aftercare for PRP

  1. If you experience any pain or discomfort you may take Tylenol or other Acetaminophen-containing products as directed.
  2. Continue to avoid aspirin, Ibuprofen, NSAid, Ponstan and other anti-inflammatory medications for 3 days after your procedure (if possible try for 7 days).
  3. Avoid vigorous exercise, sun and heat exposure for at least 48 hours after your treatment.
  4. Do not wet your hair for at least 3 hours after your treatment.
  5. Do not use any hair products for at least 6 hours after your treatment.
  6. Be sure to take a hot shower and wash your hair that evening, after the treatment, to promote the effects of PRP.
  7. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, swimming for 2 days after your treatment.
  8. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and smoking for 3 days after treatment. Smokers do not heal well and problems recur earlier and results may take longer.
  9. Some patients may experience forehead swelling which is pretty common and goes away after 48 hours.
  10. Avoid resuming Minoxidil (Formula 82M, Rogaine®), hair coloring, and straightening for 3 days.
  11. Continue increased water intake the first week after your treatment.
  12. Do not use blood thinning agents such as vitamin E, vitamin A, Garlic, Flax, Cod Liver Oil, Essential Fatty Acids and least one week after your treatment.
